2020-2021 School Year

2020-2021 School Year

2020-20201 School Calendar Change- In early August, the school district sent out a message to families about the new school year calendar. The most significant change is that the first day of school has been moved back to Monday, August 31, 2020. Please visit the School Documents Tab to view the updated calendar.
Start of the 2020-2021 School Year (Phase I)
Due to safety concerns over the rising cases of COVID-19 in our community and region, schools throughout WJUSD will begin the year in a Remote Learning or Home Learning environment (Phase 1).  This is the situation for Plainfield Elementary. As COVID19 conditions improve, schools will phase into reopening (Phases 2 – 5). The time spent between each phase is dependent on state, county, WJUSD guidance, and of course safety. During Phase 1, students will utilize district provided Chromebooks to access their teacher for live instruction (synchronous learning) at home or another location off campus. The exact schedule for Remote Learning instruction is not yet finalized, however, it will include both live (synchronous) and independent work (asynchronous) each day to resemble the regular in-person school day in length, rigor, and subject matter taught as much as possible. To our returning students and parents - instruction will be much different than last Spring.
Start of the Year School Material Distribution Schedule
8/24 - Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade, 4-6 pm
8/25 - Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Grade, 4-6 pm
Please drive to the South parking lot near the multi for a curbside pickup of supplies, materials and workbooks so you are ready for the start of the year.  Head west at the intersetion of County Road 97 and County Road 25.  Parents if you have a first or second grade student, please bring their current Chromebook and charger with you so we can exchange it for a touchscreen version.

Aeries Parent Portal Account Set Up and Data Confirmation - If you have not set up your Parent Portal account please do so as soon as possible in order to complete the required Data Confirmation process. The Data Confirmation window is now open but will close at the end of the month - it is incredibly important that you complete the process. Data Confirmation, using the Parent Portal, allows registered parent(s) to change or confirm student related information such as demographic data, contact information, health/medical history, as well as the ability to digitally sign school/district related documents or authorizations. Data Confirmation replaces the traditional way in which parents or family members fill out and return emergency cards in addition to signing and returning all the other annual school/district paperwork at the start of the year for each of their students.  This process saves time, reduces paper consumption/printing costs, and is fairly simple to use. Only one account per family is needed - parents can add their children to the account.

In order to create a new Parent Portal account, you will need a valid email account and three pieces of data for this process. To protect each student's privacy, you will need: (1) Verification Passcode, (2) Primary Telephone Number, and (3) Student ID Number. If you need one or more pieces of this data, please contact our front office. We will provide you the requested information after we verify you are the student's parent or legal guardian. Attached are instructions on how to create your parent portal account.

If you already have a Parent Portal account, log into Parent Portal and click on the yellow banner at the top of your screen and complete each step.
If you have any questions or need any support please contact our front office at (530) 669-9301 or the Family Support Line at (530) 406-3258.

Thank you & Go Mustangs!
