Kindergarten

Mrs. Neilson helping students with their Calendars
Kindergarten is a wonderful year of discovery and independence. Children experience the world around them and working with others. Through study of friends, citizenship, communities, local and national symbols and the needs of others around them, they learn what it means to be a member of society and the school.

In science, weather, plants, landforms and life cycles are important topics. Hands-on activities help the children understand and become involved in the learning of important science topics.

Words and numbers permeate the kindergarten year. We count everything. Calendars are also important in kindergarten and we end with adding and subtracting. The alphabet at the start of the year and reading in the spring make for an exciting time in the kindergartener’s life. We help to nurture and teach each child, helping to set the stage for them to become the best students they can be and to build the foundation of their future education.
