In February, 2004, Plainfield Elementary was approved by the Board of Trustees as a thematic school of choice for agriculture and environmental sciences. The staff has developed a highly engaging, hands-on instructional program, using science as the means to increase motivation and excitement for learning, and to improve overall student achievement. Because of our location and unique heritage, focusing on agriculture and the environment was a natural choice for our school community. Some of the highlights of Plainfield’s program include our greenhouse and thriving school garden, our status as a PGE Solar School, our longstanding relationship with Cache Creek Nature Preserve, and our ongoing commitment to provide visual and performing arts instruction to all students.
